Block is in!
Had a special delivery to my shop today.
Ford Racing 460 Block is In!
Time to get started assembling my engine program again!
I’m all kinds of giddy now! Time to get to work on getting this car back on the track where it belongs!
Next up, I’ll need to do some traveling to get the car moved around, pick up some parts and get some other balls rolling in the engine department.
Feels good to have a little bit of progress happening with the Horsepower & Heels Racecar.
Horsepower & Heels Mustang Renderings
Here’s a collection of renderings done for the new Horsepower & Heels Mustang Renderings by Competition Designs.
[imagebrowser id=35]Event: Nails and Details, 8/12/12
Horsepower & Heels driver Erica Ortiz, recently helped create the inaugural Nails and Details program at the Woody Anderson Ford Fayetteville, TN location.
The event was designed by women for women, and focused on all of the important vehicle maintenance and safety information that owners need to know to protect their investments. The program helps explain complicated and confusing ownership questions, and educates consumers on the importance of proper service and maintenance.
In addition to developing the program agenda items, Erica led several break-out sessions on Basic Vehicle Maintenance and Service Intervals for the attendees.
The Nails and Details program was so well-received, that it is scheduled to be duplicated at the other Woody Anderson locations and made into an annual event.

Horsepower & Heels driver Erica Ortiz’s second hobby is also a fast-paced adrenaline feeding sport.
These series of photos were featured in GO Magazine on 4/12/12, by Huntsville Times photographer Eric Schultz.
As eRacer X for the Dixie Derby Girls Flat Track Roller Derby team in Huntsville, AL, Erica is able to mix her two favorite passions.
While the Pro Mod was down for the rebuild, Erica needed another outlet to keep her active. Roller derby was just the answer! Follow some of her roller derby adventures on her blog, eRacer X Files.

[imagebrowser id=13]2007 Mustang Build-up
A long and tedious process, Erica was able to make some serious upgrades to the Horsepower & Heels Racecar. Starting with a new body, the Thunderbird is replaced by a fiberglass VFN 2007 Mustang body. The engine program also receives a serious jumpstart.

A garage photo shoot with Orlando based photographer, Herbie Martin. Joined by fellow Horsepower & Heels teammate, Debbie Denny, Erica Ortiz played up the stark contrast between formal and firesuit.

[imagebrowser id=18]World Street Nationals
Orlando, FL–
The annual World Street Car Nationals is the Indy of heads-up doorslammer racing in the country. Erica attempts to qualify in Pro Street, running into problems with a broken rack, and a loose track at the top end. She takes the #23 position out of 67 cars, but exits first round with a blown ignition fuse.

Fun Ford Weekend World Finals
Ennis, TX–
The final stop on the FFW 2006 tour was less than stellar for the Horsepower & Heels Thunderbird. Ignition problems plagued qualifying attempts, and a broken transmission on the starting line during the first eliminations round sent Erica home early.
Despite the lacksluster finish, Erica Ortiz becomes the 2006 Fun Ford Weekend Pro 5.0 Championship Runner-Up.
