Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords mentionThe CyberStangs column features a mustang or ford related website in each issue. This month, they have chosen StangFreak.com , a site based mostly on the west coast of mustang enthusiasts, with a growing population and new chapters across the country. Earlier this year, I was asked to write a small column on the site, entitled ‘SHE FREAK’. MM & FF did a complete feature on the site, mentioning my column and also my own Horsepower & Heels website!

Its kind of amazing how much the internet has mainstreamed into our daily lives. Anyone who knows me, knows I’m about at the point where I can’t live WITHOUT it. Its how I stay in touch, in the know, up to date. You really can find ANYTHING on the web, you just have to know how to find it. But as much as I am constantly online, reading, writing, browsing, surfing, or however you refer to it, I never stood still long enough to carve out my own place…. Kind of silly seeing how I have built sites for countless others.

So, what does a girl do when she’s stuck at home, miserable from having her wisdom teeth pulled? Why, stay up all night and create her own site!

Welcome to Horsepower & Heels!    I have big dreams for this site, both for my own racing and to have a place where all women racing can find info and resources.

So, here it is… its not done yet, but I’ll promise to keep updating it as often as I can. Thanks for coming and looking around. Hopefully, it’ll interest a few watching eyes, and some much needed help will come my way. Or maybe that’s just the hydrocodone talking.

ESX Subaru SearchDrag Racing Online featured Horsepower & Heels driver Erica Ortiz and several other ladies among the 8 finalists selected from almost 400 applicants to participate in the ESX Maximum Velocity Female Driver Search in their Agent 1320 article called ‘Fast Women’.    Erica and the other finalists flew to Pomona Raceway October 22-24, 2004 to participate in the contest, with the prize being the driver’s seat in the ESX SPT Subaru for the 2005 season in the NHRA Subcompact Sportsman RWD class.

Fun Ford Weekend rolls into raceway | Gainesville Sun

The Gainesville Sun newspaper in Gainesville, FL highlights Horsepower & Heels driver Erica Ortiz in their preview to the 2004 Sunshine State Nationals.  The article ‘Fun Ford Weekend rolls into raceway’ calls out Erica as a racer to watch in the Drag Radial class in her 1991 turbocharged Mustang LX coupe.

World Domination | MM&FF

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords‘World Domination’ covers the World Ford Challenge 5 in May 2002 and features Horsepower & Heels driver Erica Ortiz’s run in Wild Street.    Erica would qualify well in the 30 mile cruise around the St. Louis area and returning for her 3 back-to-back runs at Gateway International Raceway with a string of 9.40s and 9.50s.  But during eliminations, she would eventually fall in the semifinal round to Lovelace after a holeshot loss, running a best of 9.21 seconds.

Turning up the Heat | MM&FF

Muscle Mustangs and Fast FordsHorsepower & Heels driver Erica Ortiz received lots of coverage for her 2002 Fun Ford Weekend Gainesville win in True Street.   ‘Turning up the Heat’ is the event recap for the Sunshine State Nationals event, and she is recognized for her top finish with a 9.48 second average in the true street class, after taking a 30 mile cruise through Gainesville, FL and returning for 3 immediate back-to-back passes, without the ability to open the hood or make any changes.

NASCAR Cafe Car Show MMC

The Modern Mustang Club Orlando and Tampa Bay chapters gathered in front of the NASCAR Cafe in Orlando for a fun-filled evening in the middle of Universal’s City Walk. With over 100 cars in attendance, the NASCAR Cafe Car Show was a huge success and treated tourists to a unique experience.
