Runner-up finish in Phenix City Quick 8

June 4, 2006 //  by Horsepower & Heels

Phenix City, AL–Erica’s local track, Phenix Motorsports Park, has a pretty strong Sunday program in place during the summer, which regularly includes Pro Mods & other variation Quick 8 programs. Feeling more confident after recent test sessions, the Horsepower & Heels team decided to enter the Sunday Quick 8.  Erica was super consistent all day, and ended up in the final before a “brain malfunction” gave her opponent a hefty holeshot victory when both cars got loose. Still, Erica was pleased with her performance.

“It’s been awhile since I’ve had some real-race experience. We’ve made so many single run test passes, and my focus has been trying to get the car down track. Now, I feel we’ve got a handle on the car, and I’m feeling much more comfortable behind the wheel, so its time to get to work on my job on the tree.  –Erica Ortiz, Horsepower & Heels driver

Overall, the Horsepower & Heels team was very happy with their success, and are optimistic about the performance progress they are making. Look for more progress as the team turns the wick up even more to prepare for Fun Ford Weekend Richmond, VA later this month.
