Columbus, GA– Word of Erica Ortiz’s new ride travels fast, with mention of her 2005 plans landing in the 1320 Pit Bits column of RPM Magazine. Author Ian Rae writes this of Erica’s latest racing plans:
Erica Ortiz is going to step up with an ’86 Thunderbird that will run PRO 5.0 with a twin turbo 500 inch Ford and help from Innovative Turbo. Erica had this to say about pro ride:
“Mike Herring saw my wanted post on http://www.promodifieds.com/ and emailed me about a friends’ thunderbird, the price was reasonably close, so here it is! It will take a few weeks to get the chassis up to date here at Parker Chassis, but overall, it is ready to go. I just sold my entire radial engine combination , and have Moody Racing on board helping me with a 500 CID big block application. Al Moody is the mastermind behind Mike Hill’s 10.5 BBF combination and also is instrumental in John Gullett’s machine. Thanks again to Rick Head of Innovative Turbo, I will be running a twin turbo setup on the big block, and should be a lot more competitive than originally anticipated. Funding has been a bit scarce for me, so its taking a bit longer than I expected initially (the expense of a chassis was not expected, but at least I own it now) however, I am very excited and ready to dive into getting this thing prepared, and hope to debut the car by Houston FFW, if not sooner.”
