Come with me on a test drive of this beautiful Harley Davidson Heritage Vicla – featuring a HEALTHY 131
Not again. You know, you’d think I learned my lesson on what happens when I just *casually* take cool rides out on a test drive. Because handing me the keys to a spicy loping motorcycle is like handing a 10-year-old the launch codes to a firework factory.
On weekend rides, we typically stop in and visit our friends at Harley Davidson of New Port Richey. Rooster sold me Bianca, my 2008 Heritage Vicla, and we drop by regularly to see what’s new and say hi.
This weekend was like any other – we say hello, browse the current inventory, pick up a new t-shirt or two.
But then, a choppy, loping, angry idle grabbed ALL of my attention. You know, the mid-sentence, ‘forget-my-name’ type attention steal. And imagine my surprise when I see *that* beauty — a 2018 FLHCS Heritage Classic dressed out Vicla-style with a very healthy 131″ engine.
It already had the same 21″ mammoth spoke wheel up front, good sized apes, and the exact Bassani true-dual fishtail exhaust that I adore on my Heritage. It was a very familiar ride for me, even at factory ride height and without a reach seat. But as soon as you twist the throttle – the similarities end.
Even a moderate twist of the throttle and this bike jumped to life, throwing me back in the seat. I’ve rode a few tuned-up larger displacement Harleys in the past, but it is something entirely different on a lightweight Heritage. The raw power and torque wasn’t overbearing, and the bike stayed very nimble and driveable in all her rowdy glory.
It really took everything I had to walk away from this bike. And even now, I still can’t stop thinking about it.
